SPRINGDALE — Roy Lee Layes, 79, of Springdale passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born July 17, 1938, in Inola, Okla., to Lewis and Minnie Pennington Layes.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a master electrician for 40 years with IBEW. He loved to deer hunt. He was a big Arkansas Razorback football and basketball fan. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading western books. Most most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Geneva Layes of the home; three daughters, LeAnn Franco and husband Dwayne of Springdale, Diane Lindsley and husband Rick of Bentonville and Leslie Treat and husband Ronnie of Springdale; one brother, James Layes and wife Mae Beth of Brightwater, Ark.; one sister, Elizabeth Cline and husband Norvel of Springdale; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Taylor and Tannor; two great-grandchildren, Tariance and Sebastian. Numerous family members and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 2, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.siscofuneral.com.
