When William C McMahan was born on March 10, 1852, in Cherokee, Alabama, his father, David, was 24 and his mother, Jane, was 25. He had two sons and two daughters with Susan McMahan. He then married Laura J Ship and they had four children together. He died on June 10, 1921, in Arkansas at the age of 69, and was buried in Greenbrier, Arkansas.
