Herbert W. Shelly, 93, of Van Buren, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Fort Smith. He was born December 30, 1923 in Dyer, to the late Charley and Bessie Shelly. He was an electronics technician, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served at Faith Assembly of God for twenty years as Sunday School Superintendent, and twenty five years as a Sunday School teacher at First Assembly of God in Van Buren. He left a godly legacy for his children, grandchildren, and those to come. He was preceded in death by his first and second wife, Garnet Shelly and Lucille Shelly, and a brother, Kenneth Shelly. He is survived by two sons, Wesley Shelly and wife Sandy of Van Buren, and Larry Shelly and wife Brenda of Fort Smith; a sister, Drucilla White of Van Buren; nine grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Alma Cemetery with Military Honors, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR. Pallbearers will be Jamie Shelly, Jason Shelly, Craig Shelly, David Shelly, Sam Wood, and Jackie Emmert. The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.

Garnet J. Shelly, 80, of Van Buren died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Asembly of God in Van Buren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Assembly of God in Van Buren with burial at Alma Cemetery in Alma under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert W. Shelly of Van Buren; two sons, Wesley A. Shelly of Van Buren and Larry H. Shelly of Fort Smith; a sister, Lucille Hays of Alma; two brothers, James E. Wonderly of Tahlequah, Okla., and Thomas O. Wonderly of Alma; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Cecil and Buddy Hesslen, Doyle Johns, Tilsey Byram, Carl Grizzle, James Kerr, Larry Mays, Dennis Taylor and Floyd Gage.
