When James Billy Kitchens was born on December 31, 1918, in Arkansas, his father, James, was 32 and his mother, Ruth, was 22. He married Geneva Gecilla Williams in 1940 in his hometown. They had one child during their marriage. He died on March 24, 1993, in Conway, Arkansas, at the age of 74, and was buried in Bethlehem Cemetery.
