Golden Argent Kinder, 59, a retired farmer and business man of Smackover, died in a local hospital Monday afternoon. Born in Imboden, ark., Sept. 22, 1909, he was the son of A. D. and Mattie Rock Kinder. He moved to Mt. Holly in 1922 and to Smackover in 1948 where he established a grocery store. Mr. Kinder was a member of the Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge and the First Methodist Church of Smackover, where he served on the official board. He was past president of the Smackover Chamber of Commerce and the Smackover Booster Club. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Cecil Smith Kinder; a son, Wayne Golden Kinder, Lexington, Ky.; a brother, J. H. Kinder, Smackover; and two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Henson, Memphis, Tenn. and Mrs. John D (Clara) Smalling of Stephens. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Smackover Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Robert W. Trieschmann, the Rev. D. C. McAtee and the Rev. J. W. Taylor. Burial will follow in Smackover Cemetery with graveside rites by the Mt. Moriah F & AM Lodge. Pallbearers will be Carl Kinder, Charles Kinder, M. V. Kinder, Eugene Kinder, Everett Henson, A. J. Henson, Robert Henson and Mike Smalling, nephews of Mr. Kinder. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible Class and the Board of Stewards of the First Methodist Church of Smackover, Dr. Jacob Ellis, Dr. George Warren, Willie Davis and Robert Hodge. The body will be at the funeral home until 9 a.m. Wednesday and will then be moved to the family home in Smackover and then to the church at 12:30 p.m. for the services. The family request that memorials be made to the building fund of the First United Methodist Church of Smackover. (El Dorado Times - November 19, 1968)
