Obituary

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Olmstead funeral chapel for William Henry Green, age 71, who died at the City hospital Wednesday (Feb 13, 1963), several days after he had suffered a heart attack.
The son of Minor and Ellie Sandridge Green, he was born at Conway Dec. 31, 1889, but had spent most of his life in Heber Springs.
He was a bus driver for the Heber Springs schools and was a butcher by trade working for many years at the Locker plant. He also owned a farm east of the city where he and his family resided. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr Green was an outgoing, jovial person who hat the facility for making friends easily and the friendships he made remained warm and enduring. He was admired and respected for his industriousness and it was said that the limit he would go to help his friends and neighbors was boundless. He was an avid hunter and fisherman when time permitted and many enjoyed his companionship on these occasions.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Surphonia Green; six sons, Herman, Billy, Minor L, and Charles W. Green, all of Heber Springs, Eugene M. Green of Taylor, Mich, and Dennis Green of Dutch John, Utah; three daughters, Mrs. Jetta Faye Jones of Mayflower, Mrs. Wilma Joyce Walker of Memphis and Miss Marie Green of Heber Springs; four brothers, Buddy Green of Palarm, and Frank and Marvin Green of Mayflower, and John Green of Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Newberry and Mrs. Cozette Smith of Little Rock, and Mrs. Beatrice Havens of California; stepmother, Mrs. Eva Green and nine grandchildren.
Rev. J. H. Smith officiated at the last rites and interment was in the Bethlehem cemetery near Greenbrier.
Casketbearers were Jack Mullen, J. T. Carr, Walter Aldridge, Jerome Johnson, Carthel Haywood, and Vern Horton.
