When John Wesley Browning was born on September 24, 1892, in Wooster, Arkansas, his father, Robert, was 27 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 22. He married Alma Gertrude Wofford on August 9, 1917, in Faulkner, Arkansas. They had seven children in 19 years. He died on January 11, 1956, in Faulkner, Arkansas, at the age of 63, and was buried in Greenbrier, Arkansas.
