M Cravens Housley, 78, of Pine Bluff,Arkansas died Monday, January 27, 2014. He was born August 2, 1935 in Prairie View,,Arkansas son of J Alfred and Annie Lee Cravens Housley. Mr. Housley was reared and received his early education in Scranton,Arkansas graduating from Scranton High School in 1953. He earned his B S Degree in guidance and counseling from Arkansas Polytechnic College (now Arkansas Tech University) in 1958. Mr Housley earned his Master's Degree from Arkansas State University in 1963 and did additional graduate work at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville,Arkansas.
He began his educational career in Gillett, Arkansas as a business teacher in 1956. He taught business in Gillett, Stuttgart,Arkansas and Wilson,Arkansas before beginning his counseling career in Brinkley,Arkansas in 1962. He moved to Pine Bluff in 1967 and worked at Pine Bluff High School as a counselor from 1967 until his retirement in 1996, after serving 40 years in education. He was a past president and treasurer of Southeast Arkansas Counselors. He was a member of Jefferson County Retired Teachers, Arkansas Retired Teachers, past treasurer of District V Retired Teachers and member of Phi Delta Kappa. As a faithful member of Lakeside United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff, he served as past president of Wesley Sunday School Class, past chairman of Education Committee and Missions and Outreach Committee. He also served as past church treasurer.

Lora Mae Curtis Housley, 73, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas died Saturday, March 8, 2014.
She was born December 9, 1940 in Searcy, Arkansas daughter of Cedric and Madalene Mae Brown Curtis. She was reared and received her early education in Hoxie,Arkansas graduating from Hoxie High School in 1958. She earned her degree in Music Education from Arkansas College, now Lyon College, in 1961. She earned her Master's in Music Education from Ouachita Baptist University. She started her teaching career in the Bryant School District, teaching music at Bryant Junior High and Senior High from 1961 - 1965. After a brief stint teaching music in Brinkley, she moved to Pine Bluff in 1967 along with her husband, M Cravens Housley. She taught music in the Pine Bluff School District from 1967 until her retirement in 1996, after 35 years of teaching music in public education. She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the chancel choir, handbells, worship committee and member of the Wesley Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Alpha Sigma Sorority, Arkansas Elementary Association, Pine Bluff Musical Coterie, Delta Kappa Gamma teacher's sorority, pianist for the Trinity Sing Along and Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, M Cravens Housley; and her parents..
