Troy D. Jones, 85, of Cord, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at White River Medical Center.

He was born in Cord, Arkansas on February 13, 1927 to Joseph Walter “JW” Jones and Cora Mae (Wadley) Jones.

He worked at a canning factory in Michigan before moving to Cord to farm soybeans and cattle farm. He was a hard worker, enjoyed going to the stock yard sales barn every Wednesday and was co-owner with his wife of the Cord Auction Sale. He liked to play tricks on people and make them laugh. He enjoyed family cook-outs and hunting. He always wanted to have last word and he was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons: Troy L. Jones of Batesville and Gary D. Jones and his wife, Earline, also of Batesville; a daughter, Melissa Jones Yates and her husband, Kevin of Newark; four grandchildren: Troy Lynn Jones and his wife, Sarah of Jacksonville, Brandy Reaper Rusk and her husband, Eric of Oklahoma, Bobby Reaper and his wife, Roxanne of Hickory Flat, Kacy Jones of Alabama; three great-grandchildren Blake and Dylan Jones of Jacksonville and Gavin Rusk of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris Jones; a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Jones; three brothers and four sisters.

Pallbearers are Royce Bradley, Randy Bradley, Otto Graham, Ronnie Painter, Larry Gibson and Chuck Osborne.

Honorary pallbearers are Waymon Brewer, Ronnie Lindsey and Rick Jennings.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the Cord Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Childers officiating.

Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Homes of Batesville.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home and from noon until service time on Friday at the church.

Mrs. Doris Dorothy (Henderson) Jones, 82, of Cord, Arkansas departed this life on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Batesville. She was born October 2, 1929 at Dexter, Missouri, the daughter of Howard and Ruby (Lambert) Henderson.

Doris was the first woman to receive an Auctioneer's license in Arkansas, receiving the license from then governor Bill Clinton. She owned and operated Jones Auction in Cord for more than two decades alongside her husband, Troy. Doris enjoyed fishing with family and friends, and especially enjoyed taking the children and grandchildren on their first fishing experience. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She leaves her family with many great memories and the ability to cook with love and kindness. Doris' greatest joy in life was time spent with family and friends, having back yard cookouts and visiting.

Throughout her life, Doris showed remarkable courage and resilience in the face of adversity and never lost her sense of humor. She had the ability to light up a room and make old friends out of new acquaintances instantly.

Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Jones; four brothers; two sisters; and her parents.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Troy D Jones; two sons, Troy Lee Jones of Batesville and Gary D. Jones and wife Earline of Batesville; one daughter, Melissa Jones Yates and husband Kevin of Newark; four grandchildren, Troy Lynn Jones and wife Sarah of Jacksonville, Brandy Reaper Rusk and husband Eric of Colcord, Oklahoma, Bobby Reaper and wife Roxanne of Searcy, and Kacy De Jones of Long Beach, California; three great-grandsons, Blake and Dylan Jones of Jacksonville, and Gavin Rusk of Colcord, Oklahoma; five sisters, Cora Hatler, Peggy Richmond, Wilma Walker, Betty Bales, and Linda Hamilton; two brothers, Coy Morse and Eddie Morse; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cord Baptist Church with interment in Hopewell Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church Wednesday, noon until service time.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Larry Gipson, Marvin Brewer, Otto Graham, Billy Mack Austin, Floyd Northcutt, Randy Bradley, Ronnie Lindsey, and Tim West.

Memorials may be made to the Cord Baptist Church, Cord Fire Department, or the Cord Senior Citizen Center.
