GARFIELD — Retired Army Lt. Col. Theodore "Ted" H. Conley, 73, of Garfield, Ark., went to be with his heavenly father on Feb. 25, 2018 at Circle of Life in Springdale. He was born May 31, 1944, in Mountain Home, Ark., the son of Mac A. and Marie Cox Conley.
He was a 1966 graduate of the University of Arkansas when he then enlisted in the Army where he retired after 28 years of service. He went to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier and retired for the second time. He most recently worked at Comfort Suites in Bentonville as the shuttle driver. Ted was a member of the Lakeview Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gwen Post Conley; two daughters, Teresa Bean Mills of Bentonville, Tammie Walker of Pea Ridge; a son, Brad Conley and daughter-in-law Jessica of Cave Springs; one brother, Winfred and wife Bonnie Conley of Mountain Home; one sister, Peggy and husband Wayne Morris of Mountain Home; and his eight grandchildren, Ashley Mills and Taylor Mills, Haley and husband Colter Webb, Dylan Walker, Jason Conley, Colby Willett, Kelsey Willett, Paige Conley and two great-granddaughters, Ava and Berkley.
Ted loved spending time with his family, friends, his Spanish class and co-workers. The family would like to thank his dear friend, Susan Turner, for the special care she provided to Ted during his illness.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday March 2, 2018, at Benton County Funeral Home. Funeral service with will be held 11 a.m. Saturday March 3, 2018, at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th St. Rogers, Ark. Interment with military honors will be in the Ruddick Cemetery, Garfield, Ark.
