JOPLIN, Mo. — Gladys Cain Miles, 82, of Joplin died Jan. 22, 1996, at Freeman Hospital East in Joplin. She was born Feb. 3, 1913, in Auburn, Ga., to Emory Preston and Beulah Pirkle Cain. She attended Birmingham Southern University in Alabama and Galloway College in Searcy, where she studied music. She was the owner/manager of Miles Beauty Salon in Harrison, a homemaker, an accomplished vocalist and violinist, and a Baptist. She moved to Rogers in the late 1970s from Harrison and to Joplin in 1994. She was preceded in death in 1983 by her husband, Ransom (R.C.) Miles, to whom she was married for 44 years; her parents; one sister.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard and Carol Miles of Joplin; one brother, Emory Cain of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandsons, Richard W. Miles Jr. of Rogers, John D. Miles of Miami, Fla., and Jeffrey P. Miles of Bentonville; three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Rogers with the Rev. Ben J. Rowell officiating. Burial will be in Rogers Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard W. Miles Jr., John D. Miles, Jeffrey P. Miles, Ret Miles, Walter Heyne and Robert Millard. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilson Moore and H. Don McGee.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
