Ernest Joseph Mertin, 78 of Subiaco, Arkansas passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 in Clarksville, Arkansas. He was born October 12, 1937 in Prairie View to Fred and Eva Mertin. Ernest served in the United States Army National Guard and was a retired construction worker from Nabholtz Construction. Mr. Mertin was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Betty Anhalt Mertin; daughter, Missy Bates of Subiaco; son, Mike Mertin of Prairie View; sisters, Rita Tice of Scranton, Claire Rowland of Oklahoma City and Mary Geels of Scranton; brothers, Fred Mertin of Fort Smith and Tony Mertin of Shoal Creek and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ron Anhalt, Sean McPhillips, Scott Mertin, Mark Mertin, Jerry Mertin, Terry Tice, David Koch, Larry Sory and Gary Burrows.
