When George Washington Manes was born on October 27, 1918, in Hulbert, Oklahoma, his father, George, was 28 and his mother, Keziah, was 22. He had five brothers and nine sisters. He died on September 5, 1978, in Star City, Arkansas, at the age of 59, and was buried in Gould, Arkansas.
