Douglass Ross Huston, 67, of Garfield, died Monday, Jan. 25 at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County.
He was born Aug. 16, 1942 at Hamilton, Ohio to Daniel Payne Huston and Edith LaVerne Toole Huston. He served in the Air Force for 11 years as an aircraft mechanic. He moved to the area 42 years ago to make his home. He retired from Wal-Mart receiving dept. after 12 years. He was an avid local sports fan, attending all the games and helped to build the Pea Ridge Day Memorial Ball Field, Pea Ridge High School Football concession stand, the Pea Ridge High School Baseball and Softball Fields. He also began the Sports Scholarship Program at Pea Ridge High School and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Garfield.
He is preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Daniel and Edith Huston and his biological parents, Lee and Elizabeth King.
Survivors are his wife Rae Huston of the home; four sons, Doug Huston and wife Sharee of Bella Vista, Dennis Huston and wife Corina of Pea Ridge, Alan Huston of Pea Ridge and Michael Huston of Garfield; two brothers, Wayne King of San Angelo, Texas and Ivan King of Harrison, Ohio; six sisters, Juanita Sutton of Lawrenceberg, Indiana, Jane Booth of Cincinnati, Ohio, Patsy Earnheart of Pickerington, Ohio, Margie Nash of Delhi, Ohio, Lenore Kelley of Colquit, Georgia, Sue Fitzgerald of Columbus, Ga. and four grandchildren.
Services are set for Monday, Feb. 1 at 2:00p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church north of Pea Ridge with Pastor Ron Shultz officiating. Burial will be at Bayless Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4p.m. Sunday Jan. 31 at the funeral home.
