September 2, 1901 - July 29, 1974
Funeral services for Dow H. Murphy, 72, of Calion, who died Monday night in a local hospital, will be today at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Calion with the Rev. Gordie Givens officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery off of Hwy. 167 North under the direction of Bailey. Mr. Murphy was born Sept. 2, 1901 in Norphlet and was the son of T. C. and Ella Milner Murphy. He was a retired oil field worker, a life long resident of Union County and a member of the First Baptist Church of Calion. Survivors include two sons, Morgan K. Murphy and Donald H. Murphy, both of Calion; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Oliver, Calion; three brothers, Frank Murphy,and Newt T. Murphy, both of Calion; and Obie Lee Murphy, El Dorado; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to service time. The family will be at the residence of Morgan K. Murphy in Calion. Pallbearers are Bernard Ware, Bertram Baker, James R. McGough, James Alfred Parker, George Blackmon and William C. Murphy.
