November 11, 1880 - June 20, 1967
Mrs. Laura Caroline Hux Blackmon, 86, of Calion died Tuesday morning at her home after a brief illness. Born Nov. 11, 1880 near Junction City, she was the daughter of Frank Hux, Sr. and Ollie Duttingham Hux. She and been a resident of Calion since 1925 and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two sons, George E. Blackmon of Calion, Don E. Blackmon of Little Rock; two brothers, Frank Hux, Jr. of El Dorado, Asa Hux of Olive Branch community; one sister, Mrs. Ollie Huitt of Wesson; four grandchildren, one great grandson, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Calion Baptist Church with Rev. C. R. McCollum and Rev. R. M. Rainbolt, pastor of Calion Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Pratt Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be James Staples, Bertram Baker, Tillman Ables, Lavelle Hux, Claud Bradley, Gene Epps, and Jackie Tomlinson. (El Dorado Daily News - June 21, 1967)
