When Arthur Calvin Ashcraft was born on November 27, 1911, in Grant, Arkansas, his father, James, was 20 and his mother, Addie, was 21. He married Ruby Ruth Moore on May 21, 1932, in Lincoln, Arkansas. They had five children in 14 years. He died on January 19, 1984, in Gould, Arkansas, at the age of 72, and was buried there.
