Charlie Wesly Leopard, 65, of Norphlet died unexpectedly Sunday in a Smackover hospital. Death was attributed to a heart seizure. A pumper for Washington Brothers Oil Co., Mrs. Leopard was born in Union County, Oct. 10, 1899, the son of Charlie K. and Adel Murphy Leopard. He had spent his entire life in the county and was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Charlcie Wallace Leopard; two sons, Charlie W. Leopard of Norphlet and Alvin Leopard of Longview, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Howard Blalock of Smackover; two stepsons, Robert Norton of Gadsden, Ala., and Jimmy H. Norton of Norphlet; his stepmother, Mrs. Ellen Bush of Norphlet; two half-sisters, Mrs. Pearl Clawson of El Dorado and Mrs. Lyda Dungan of Port Gibson, Miss.; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services have been announced for Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Elder R. W. Rhodes officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ross Williams. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Pallbearers will be Ellis Washington, Ernest Washington, Frank Castleberry, Buddy Hicks, G. L. Bates and Edward Clawson. The body was taken to the Howard Blalock home in Smackover Monday afternoon. (The El Dorado Times - November 2, 1964)
