When James Barton Sollars was born on September 2, 1911, in Ohio, his father, Barton, was 52 and his mother, Leomay, was 27. He married Germaine Marie Rousseau on May 15, 1936, in Arkansas, Arkansas. They had one child during their marriage. He died on October 29, 1998, in DeWitt, Arkansas, at the age of 87.
