Ricky Allen Purdy, 62, of DeWitt died September 19, 2016.
He was born April 22, 1954, in DeWitt to G.W. and Ann Purdy.
Ricky was a welder and business owner in DeWitt, and was a member of Unity Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed participating in bow shooting competitions. He was a black belt in Taiho-Ryu karate and opened one of the first Dojo in DeWitt.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Matthew Purdy.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Purdy; two children Nic Purdy and wife Stacy and Amber Purdy all of Sherwood; one brother Randy Purdy of Jonesboro; one sister Rachelle McCarty and husband Tim of Redfield; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 September 22 at Essex Funeral Home with burial in Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens by Essex Funeral Home.
