When Jack Elry Pankey was born on April 5, 1914, in Batesville, Arkansas, his father, Franklin, was 29 and his mother, Sarah, was 30. He married Dahlia Evelyn Simpson on July 9, 1938, in Pulaski, Arkansas. They had three children during their marriage. He died on October 20, 1980, in Shreveport, Louisiana, at the age of 66, and was buried in De Witt, Arkansas.
