When James Wilbert Miller was born on February 9, 1908, in Arkansas, Arkansas, his father, Cass, was 20 and his mother, Sallie, was 18. He married Flossie Lee Strickland and they had one son together. He also had two sons with Naomi Virginia Widener. He died on January 13, 1989, in De Witt, Arkansas, at the age of 80, and was buried there.
