Velma Hern, 88, of Atkins, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville. She was born October 19, 1928 in Trumann, daughter of Willis Southall and Velva Craig Russ. She was a loving mother and grandmother.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Hern, Sr; daughters Rita Hardwick and Annette Millikin; brother Richard Southall; and sisters Ruby Angelberg and Shirley Waddle.
She is survived by sons, John Hern, Ted Hern, Roger Hern, and Jimmy Hern; daughters, Sharon Hern Morganthall, and Loretta Hern Hinkston; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene Southall, Kenneth Southall, Gene Waddle, and Doyle Waddle; sister Patsy Waddle Wormington; sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and numerous family and friends.
Funeral services are 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, at Lemley Chapel with Pastor Ted Hern officiating. Burial is in Oakland Cemetery north of Atkins under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, at Lemley Chapel.
