James Parker, 65, of Newark passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013 in Newark. He was born May 30, 1948 in Fayetteville to James Roy Parker and Dollie Briscoe Parker. He was a graduate of Fayetteville High School, served in the Air Force and worked as an Associate at Walmart. James also was a member of the Foster Parents Association of Batesville and served as a Sunday School Teacher, Usher and Deacon at the Newark Assembly of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Brenda Parker.

Survivors include his wife Rebecca Piker Parker of the home; one son, Jimmy D. Parker of Batesville; two daughters, Tammy J. Staley of Cedar Grove, WI and Holly L. Combee of Newark; three step sons, K. Chase Piker, Mason D. Piker, and Gabriel A. Piker all of the home; two sisters; Winona P. Young and Mona C. Erickson both of Fayetteville; four grandchildren; Samantha J. Staley, Jillian V. Staley, Brian C. Combee, and Haley S. Combee.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 9, 2013 at the Newark Assembly Of God with William Hughart officiating. Burial will follow at the Hopewell Cemetery in Cord. Pallbearers are Charles Combee, Michael Combee, Tyler Combee, Shane Minyard, Brian W. Combee, and Brian C. Combee.

Visitation is 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, August 8, 2013.
