Perry Ellis Vaughn son of Joseph Birdie Vaughn and Mary Ann (Neel) Vaughn. Perry Ellis Vaughn born in Twin Creek, Izard County, Arkansas and died in Salem, Fulton County, Arkansas. Lena May (Colter) Vaughn daughter of Sam Colter and Vallie May (O'Neal) Colter. Lena May (Colter) Vaughn was born in Melbourne, Izard County, Arkansas and died in Salem, Fulton County, Arkansas.


Perry Ellis Vaughn, son of the late Joseph Birdie and Mary Ann Neel Vaughn, was born February 9, 1908 in Twin Creek, Arkansas. He died Thursday, June 5, 1997 in Salem.

Ellis was united in marriage to Lena May Colter on December 20, 1933. To this union, four children were born.

Survivors include one son Carl Guin Vaughn of Melbourne; three daughters, Zena Lois Tate of Violet Hill; Connie Sue Barnett of Paris and Shirley Louise Richardson of Franklin; one brother, Raymond Eldridge Vaughn, ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, preceded by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Services were held Saturday June 7 at the Midway Baptist Church in Melbourne with Brothers Joe Jackson and Leonard Williams officiating.

Pallbearers were Joe Vaughn, Shane Gleghorn, Michael Rush, Orville Curtis, Tony Moser and Stephen Tate. Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Tate, Christopher Tate, Jason Rush and Brent Vaughn.

Interment was at Violet Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Eddie Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Lena May Colter Vaughn, daughter of the late Sam and Vallie May Oneal Colter, was born December 28, 1919 in Melbourne. She died October 16, 1996 in Salem. She was 76.

Mrs Vaughn spent her life as a homemaker and was a member of the Midway Baptist Church in Melbourne. She was united in marriage to Perry Ellis Vaughn in 1933 and to this union three daughters and one son were born.

Survivors include her husband of the home; three daughters, Zena Lois Tate of Violet Hill; Connie Sue Barnett of Paris; and Shirley Louise Richardson of Franklin; one son Carl Guin Vaughn of Melbourne; one sister, Zena Sartin of Melbourne; two brothers, Davis Colter of Vicrorville, California and Mavis Colter of Melbourne; ten grandchildren
and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held October 18 at the Midway Baptist Church in Melbourne with Brother Joe Jackson officiating.

Pallbearers were, Joe Vaughn, Shane Gleghorne, Michael Rush, Orville Curtis, Tony Moser and Stephen Tate. Honorary pallbearers were Christopher Tate, Jason Rush and Brent Vaughn.

Interment was at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Violet Hill under the direction of Eddie Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
