RAHE, John C. - J.C. Rahe died suddenly of heart trouble Wednesday afternoon about 3 o'clock at his home a short distance east of town. He had been ill since February but had recently improved very much and Wednesday was up and ate a hearty dinner. Deceased came here about a year ago from Shelby, Nebraska and purchased a small farm near town. He was about fifty years of age and the family consisted of himself and wife and we understand were originally from Illinois. Deceased was a member of the A.O.U.W. lodge at Shelby and was also a member of the I.O.O.F. The latter order took charge of the body at the request of Mrs. Rahe and prepared it for burial. The remains will be held until today awaiting the arrival of a sister of the deceased from St. Louis and one from Winfield, Kansas. Interment in Bluff Cemetery.

The remains of John C. Rahe, whose death was mentioned in The News last week, were laid to rest Friday morning in Bluff Cemetery under the auspices of the I.O.O.F. lodge. Services were conducted by Rev. Herrington, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Deceased was born in Cass County, Ill. March 23, 1843. Lived in Jacksonville 10 years and moved from there to Shelby, Neb. He was county superintendent for 2 terms and for 14 years was editor of the Shelby Sun. He came to Springdale January 18, 1906 and purchased a farm 1i' miles northeast of town where he has since resided. October 8, 1876 he was united in marriage to Miss M.C. Smith, by whom he is survived. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. M.M. Keinstein, a sister of Winfield, Kansas and Miss Abbie Lusk of St. Louis, a niece of Mrs. Rahe, were present at the funeral. Mr. Rahe's other sister resides near Shelby, Neb. Mrs. Rahe desires through the News to extend her thanks to all for their kindness during the sickness and death of her husband. As soon as she can dispose of her property here she will go to some point to make her home where she has relatives.
