April 18, 1905 - October 16, 1968
Elmer W. (Jack) Gaston, 63, of 457 W. Main St., died at 2 p.m. Wednesday in a local hospital following an apparent heart attack. Mr. Gaston was born April 18, 1905, in Camden and moved to El Dorado over 40 years ago. He was a retired fire chief and security foreman for Lion Oil Co. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of El Dorado and was also a member of the board of directors of the El Dorado Boys Club. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jeroline Hulsey Gaston of El Dorado; two sons, James E. Gaston of Little Rock and John M. Gaston of Monroe, La.; two daughters, Mrs. William D. Gunnels of Luling, La., and Mrs. Al T. Wells of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, John B. Gaston of El Dorado; a sister, Mrs. Virginia Adams of Camden; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. C. Ray Hozendorf and the Rev. Jack Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery under direction of Rumph Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - October 16, 1968)
