Gary Dale Loyd, 70, passed away at his home August 2, 2018, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Conway to J.D. Loyd and Eula Mae Loyd Petty September 18th, 1947. He will be missed and remembered by the many who loved and worked with him as a man who brought smiles and laughter. He honored his word and his family and worked hard to always be the best man he could be. He was a Christian and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He began his career as a sheet metal worker and became a business leader for Sheet Metal Workers' Local 249. The pride of his professional life was his successful 28 year tenure as President of Custom Metals, a division of Lexicon, Inc. in Little Rock. Gary retired in September of 2016 with many accolades and accomplishments.

He was an avid and accomplished outdoorsman and cattle rancher. He hunted for 38 years along with his lifelong friend Mike Henley, including 57 trips from New Mexico to the Northwest Territories. He was a life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and his trophies fill many walls and his stories filled many rooms and campfires. The true measure of Gary was wherever he traveled, worked, hunted or traded cattle, he left friends behind. Gary was easy to love and hard to forget. His ability as a cattleman was unmatched and so many have been blessed with the wisdom he shared freely.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Loyd, two sisters, Cheryl Loyd Potter and Donna Loyd Montgomery. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Pamela Loyd, his mother Eula Mae Loyd Petty, his sister Linda Loyd Terry (George), two sons Gary Loyd Jr. (Yojaina), Scott Loyd (Jennifer), and, two step sons, Jamie McDougal (Kim) and Jeremy McDougal (Martha), and twelve grandchildren, John Jairo Loyd, Isabel Loyd, Texie Loyd, Jake Loyd, Lucas McDougal, Kelton McDougal, Kyle Taylor, Jonathan McDougal, Brianna McDougal, Keelan McDougal, Alyssa Force and Jacob Force.

All who knew him knew that family was the cornerstone of his life. His pride in his sons and grandchildren was first and foremost. Gary always knew he was blessed to be married to a wonderful woman he adored. This page would not hold the list of all those who called him friend.

Over the last 19 months of his life, Gary fought a courageous battle against Cancer maintaining a great attitude and never giving up hope. The family would like to extend our gratitude to the doctors and nurses at UAMS, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the staff at Arkansas Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society to help fund research to prevent, find and treat Mesothelioma or to Arkansas Hospice.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 7th from 6pm to 8pm at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Wednesday August 8th at Antioch Baptist Church with Assistant Pastor Bobby Tucker and Pastor Jason Aultman officiating. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mike Henley, Eddie Mansfield, John Metzger, Wayne Reed, Gene Riley, Tom Schueck and George Terry.
