James Harold Hazel, 81, of Russellville went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born on June 17, 1936 to the late Carmen and Vera Hazel and was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Hazel. James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Norma Purtle Hazel.

James honorably served in the United States Army before he and Norma married in 1959. He later worked for Baldwin Piano and Garrison Motor Freight in Conway, before moving to Russellville where he continued in the transportation business with Woodline Motor Freight.

James and Norma enjoyed travel and spent their retirement years seeing the sights and camping throughout the country. As a part of their adventures together, they also served the Red Cross Disaster Relief program. Jim enjoyed photography, social media, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by a sister, Helen (Jimmy) Jones, a brother, Terry Hazel, and two sons and daughters-in-law, Kelvin and Melissa Hazel and Roger and JoAnna Hazel. His grandchildren are Lana Hazel Counce, Jeff and Hanna Hazel, Brock Bartlett, Christopher Bellew, and Lauren Hazel.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the funeral home with interment to follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Jim’s memory to your favorite local charity or to Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.
