Laynie O'Neal Satterfield, 90, of Conway, passed away Sunday February 10, 2013. He was born October 19, 1922 in Vilonia, AR to the late Jess and Alice (Harrod) Satterfield. Laynie was also preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Frazier.

He was Veteran of the United States Army and served in five major battles during World War II. Laynie was a long time member of the Fuller Chapel Primitive Baptist in North Little Rock. He retired from the V.A. and Housing Authority in North Little Rock. Laynie managed baseball at Burns Park and Vestal Park in North Little Rock and won many first place trophies.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Polly (Springer) Satterfield, one son; Jerry O'Neal (Jill) of Concord, NC, two daughters; Diane Welsh (Ed) of Conway, Sandra Spears (James) of Benton, one brother; Leon Satterfield (Barbara) of North Little Rock, five grandchildren; Crystal Satterfield (Travis), Kelly Peppard, Kari Spears, Michael Welsh (Gina), Patrick Welsh (Jennifer), three great-grandchildren; Jesse Satterfield, Laynie Ella Peppard and Josie May Peppard, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway (501-327-7727), with Bro. James Winston officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Crestlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Frazier, Mike Welsh, Patrick Welsh, Billy Joe Harrod, and Shelby Springer. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Satterfield's friends from Ed's Bakery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu flowers memorials may be made to Fuller Chapel Primitive Church, In care of Steve Holland, 22120 Arch St., Little Rock AR 72206 or The American Lung Association of Arkansas, 217 West 2nd St., Little Rock, AR 72201.
