DeWitt - Clifton Earl Blackmon (Red) age 92 of DeWitt died Saturday, October 17, 2015. He was born March 8, 1923 in Courtland, Alabama. He was the son of the late John R. Blackmon and Susie C. Terry Blackmon Peebles. He was a self employed painter for over 40 years. He also enjoyed raising and tending cattle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary C. Schorstein Blackmon, four sisters, Bernice Blackmon, Dorothy Cardona, LeeEster Hamilton, Cornelia Blackmon and one brother, Clayton Blackmon.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Stephens Blackmon, a son, Jimmy D. Blackmon and wife Nancy Criswell Blackmon, two grandchildren, Lisa Blackmon, Chris Blackmon and wife, LeeAnn Blackmon, two great-grandchildren, Layton Blackmon and Addison Blackmon all of DeWitt and one brother, Carl (CT) Peebles of Louisiana.
Graveside services will be 3:00 Tuesday, October 20th at Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens by Essex Funeral Home.
