Thelma Long Osborne, 99, of Cord, Arkansas, died Monday, December 5, 2005 at Wood-Lawn Nursing Home in Batesville.
She was born September 29, 1906 at Cord, Arkansas to James A. Long and Mattie Kay Long.
She was a loving wife, mother and daughter and will be dearly missed. Thelma married Charles N. Osborne on December 18, 1927 and they were married until his death on November 2, 1967. She owned a grocery store at Cord for several years. Thelma was a very independent lady, who had a strong connection with her family. She loved to fish and work in the yard. She received a Blue Ribbon at the county fair for crocheting, and made the best coconut pies. She was a member of the Cord Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Charles N. Osborne, Jr. and his wife, Lanell, of Cord; a daughter, Rosemary Catton and her husband, George, of Batesville; two grandsons, Charles N. Osborne III and his wife, Paula, of Cord and Capt. K. Michael Osborne, U.S. Navy, and his wife, Tracey, of Arlington, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Carol Fuller and her husband, Gerald, of San Antonio, Texas; one step-granddaughter, Melayne Satterfield and her husband, Bob, of Lindon, California; five great-granddaughters, Stacey Ferguson and her husband, John, of San Antonio, Ashley Fuller of San Antonio, Amber Osborne of Cord, Danielle and Alexandra Osborne of Arlington; one great-grandson, Charles N. Osborne IV of Jonesboro; one step-great-grandson, Jason Bragg of Lindon; one niece, Lela Long Bennett of Newark; and one nephew, Norman E. Long and his wife Geneva of Charlotte, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles N. Osborne Sr.; a step-grandson, Michael Lynn Catton; and eight brothers and sisters.
The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2005 at the Cord Baptist Church in Cord with Reverend Gary Mitchell officiating.
Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery at Cord. Arrangements are by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Pallbearers will be Don Wayne Anderson, David Anderson, Charles N. Osborne IV, Mark Long, Jason Long and Wayne Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Virgie Mabry, Patsy Anderson, Fayna Spragg, Bernice Douglas, Maxine Latting, John and Aileen Baker, Leonard and Betty Westbrook, and O. A. and Carolyn Winkles.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2005 at the Cord Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Mitchell officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2005.
