Jessie Fitchue Wilcox, age 85, of Greenbrier, left the bonds of this life
and entered Heaven on Saturday, August 15, 2009 after a long illness.
Waiting for her were her parents, Edith Fitchue Christian and Willis
Fitchue, her brother John, sister Helen Hall, her beloved daughter Edith
Jean, and longtime companion George Martin.

Born March 3, 1924 in Harrison, Arkansas, Jessie worked hard all of her life
overcoming great adversity while providing for her family. She left a legacy
of faith, hard work and perseverance that enriched the lives of her
children, family and friends. Jessie retired from the Arkansas Children's
Colony after 18 years of serving the needs of a multitude of children she
came to love. Following her retirement, Jessie shared her next few years
riding horses and working cattle with "Mr. George" Martin. Jessie loved to
sing and dance, so she and Mr. George went dancing whenever they could. We
take comfort knowing her last years of healthy life were happy and spent
with her family, friends, and her dog "Tootsie". Jessie always had at least
one dog, and of course, Mr. George had his cattle dog. When weather was
rough outdoors she and Mr. George could be found having coffee and visiting
friends at Clawson's Cafe. Jessie was a member of Pleasant Valley Church in
Wooster.

Jessie is survived by her daughter, Patsy L. Magers and husband Jim of North
Little Rock; son, Rick Wilcox and wife Camille of Rogers; sister, Eva
Mathews and husband Frank of Dequincy, LA; half sister, Fern Chaney and
husband Starlin of Green Forest, AR; half sisters, Kay Pemberton and Beverly Fitchue of Omaha, AR; and brother, Sherman Fitchue of Omaha, AR; grandchildren: Jennifer Hightower, Cynthia Stone, Cole Cantrell, Zack Wilcox and Nikki Wilcox and great grandchildren: Colt Glover, Jacob Cantrell, Vallie Cantrell, Cooper Cantrell, and ZuZu Wilcox.

Private graveside service will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery on Thursday, August 20, 2009. Pastor Freddie Mark Wilcox will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Humane Society to help care for the animals she loved so much.

Arrangements are by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier.
