Charles Louis "Duke" Burnett, 75, of Pleasant Valley, departed this world on Friday, March 21 from the same bedroom in which he was bom to Lemuel Frederick Burnett and Irene Agnes Porter Burnett on October 27, 1932. He was surrounded by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, L. F. Burnett; mother, Irene Porter Burnett; brothers, Burl and Fred Burnett, and sister Louise Burnett Beene.

He is survived by his daughter, Beth Hartwick and husband Jerry; son, Robert Burnett and wife Nancy; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his special friend Bobbie Beliew and most importantly his beloved Buddy (the three legged dog).

Throughout his years he worked as a farmer, pipefitter, excavator, real-estate agent and land developer.

C. L. was the life of the party, a fountain of knowledge, and the heart of the family. In his younger years he liked to fight, thus earning the nickname Duke. He enjoyed good conversation and being surrounded by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Greenbrier, (501) 679-2575 with Pastor Sam Parker officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Martin Burnett, Fred Burnett, Danny Burnett, James Havens, Steve Mauldin, and Dustin Worden.
