Thomas Boothe Merriweather the husband of Pearl Anita (Crews) Merriweather. Thomas Boothe Merriweather son of Coleman Dean Merriweather and Alice Marie (Hardin) Merriweather. Pearl Anita (Crews) Merriweather daughter of Clifford Albert Crews and Lucy Marie (Polston) Crews.

Mr. Thomas B. Merriweather Sr., 85, of Cord died Saturday, September 23, 2006.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl (Crews) Merriweather, on Feb. 26, 2006.

He is survived by two sons, Tony R. Merriweather of Fort Worth, Texas, and Timothy A. Merriweather of Seattle; one daughter, Teresa Smedley of Cord; one sister, Wilma Jean York; a daughter-in-law, Diane Merriweather; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; two nieces; and five nephews.

Interment was in Hopewell Cemetery.

CORD — Pearl Crews Merriweather, 80, of Cord died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, in Batesville.

Born July 29, 1925, at Saffell, she was the daughter of Clifford Albert and Lucy Marie Polston Crews. She married Thomas B. Merriweather Sr. on July 3, 1942. She was a homemaker and a member of Cord Baptist Church, where she was church clerk for over 20 years. She was a member of the Extension Homemaker’s Club, Woman’s Missionary Union and Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She had a beautician’s license and enjoyed ceramics, cake decorating, cooking and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years; two sons, Tony B. Merriweather of Fort Worth, Texas, and Timothy A. Merriweather of Mitchell, Neb.; a daughter, Teresa Smedley of Cord; two brothers, Clifford O. Crews of Moss, Mo., and Paul D. Crews of Brule, Neb.; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas B. Merriweather Jr.; two infant twin daughters; a sister, Caroline Crews; and her parents.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cord Baptist Church with Gary Mitchell and Jerry Kausler officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers are the Lydia Sunday school class.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight.
