D. Kern Lewallen, 87, of Cord died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at his home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Cord Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery at Cord under the direction of the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Ann L. Shaw Lewallen, 79, of Cord died on Friday, August 4, 2006 in Batesville.

She was born on January 27, 1927 in Newark and was the daughter of Jim and Elsie (Decker) Shaw. She worked at International Shoe Company for 18 years; at White Rodgers for 17 years; and was a homemaker. Ann also helped to manage her and her husband's farm which included peach orchards and cattle. Her family and church meant everything to Ann. She loved her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters and her many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Ann enjoyed raising a garden and canning. She was devoted to her Sunday School class, was a leader in her church. She served on many committees and was involved in many activities. She was a 60 year member of the Cord Baptist Church. She was the only graduate in 1944 from Cord High School. She and her late husband, Kern was well respected members of the Cord community and both will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Lillard and husband Bill of Cord; two brothers - I.J. Shaw of Newark and Roy Shaw of Charlotte; four sisters - Lucille Gabris of Pleasant Plains, Geneva Long of Charlotte, Fern McClure of Batesville and Ruby Gardner of Newark. She is also survived by three grandchildren - Barry Lillard and wife Cindy of Cord, Darren Lillard and wife Lisa of Batesville, Tiffany Sampson and husband, John of Bentonville; and five great-grandchildren - Shelby Anne Lillard, Zachary Kern Lillard, Darby Grace Lillard, Harold Franklin Lillard and Drayson Gillihan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kern Lewallen; brothers - Fred Shaw and J.E. Shaw; sister - Helen Wygal; one infant sister; three infant brothers and one infant grandson, Daniel Lillard.

Pallbearers will be Barry Lillard, Darren Lillard, John Sampson, Jerry Shaw, Rick Shaw, Bobby Morrison, Zach Lillard and Harold Lillard.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Board of Deacons at Cord Baptist Church, the Lydia Sunday School Class at Cord Baptist Church, Friends and Neighbors Sharing Extension Homemakers Club, her many nephews and also Jon Michael Adcox and Drayson Gillihan,

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Cord Baptist Church with Gary Mitchell and Andy Bullington officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Cord under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville.
