A 20-year-old Faulkner County man was killed in a three-vehicle crash Monday on Interstate 30, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Austin Patterson of Vilonia was traveling east on I-30 shortly after 10 a.m. when another vehicle, traveling the opposite direction, veered off the left side of the road and into a guard rail.

The vehicle, a 2008 Dodge truck, then went airborn and struck Patterson’s truck, a 1999 Chevrolet S-10.

A third vehicle, a 2005 Nissan Altima, then crashed into the Dodge.

Patterson sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

The report stated that three others were injured but didn’t include their names or ages. Police did not release the names of the other two drivers or how many passengers were in any of the vehicles.

Authorities described the conditions as rainy and wet at the time of the crash.

Patterson’s death marked the 458th fatality on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary data.
