William S "Stan" Dickerson, 66, of Bono, Arkansas (Faulkner County), went to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by family and friends on Monday, April 24, 2017. He was born on February 3, 1951, in Conway, Arkansas, to George Douglass Dickerson III, and Donna (McCarville) Dickerson. He was preceded in death by his father Doug, and his brother Scott; his grandparents, George Douglass Dickerson II, Louise Dickerson Little, Millard D McCarville, Lolita E (Simmons) McCarville, and a treasured family friend, Ouida Cavender. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Nancy Mallett Dickerson, his mother Donna, his brothers Doug (Redia) and Dennis (Jolyn), his sisters,Marsha Richmond (Tony) and Marilyn Moix (Kirk), children Carmen Shockley (Jason) and Jeremy Dickerson (Matthew), one amazing grandchild, Evie Sue Shockley and a dear friend, Dianne Shannon. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Stan was a Master Technician who began a 42-year career in the inboard/outboard motor repair business alongside his father at Lawrence Landing Repair on Lake Conway. In 1996, he opened his own business, Dickerson Marine Services, and worked with his good friend, Tom Booth, at Riverside Marine Service in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Stan was a member of the Optimist Club and Ducks Unlimited. Also, as a member of Troop 78 Cub and Boy Scouts, with his father as Scout Master, he was nominated by his troop and joined the Order of the Arrow and achieved the rank of Life Scout. He also enjoyed many hours "atop the mound" as a south-paw pitcher for the Bell Butane Baseball Team. Anyone acquainted with Stan knew that he loved being outdoors, especially hunting. Some of his most memorable times were spent gardening, tending to his honey bees, and duck hunting with his nephew, Chad Mallett, his uncle, Herman Buendter, his cousin, Buddy Buendtner, and his dad, Doug. As a very devoted member of his home church, Mallettown United Methodist Church, he taught Sunday School for 15 years and was a lay-speaker for 16 years.
A visitation will be at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, Arkansas, on Thursday, April 27, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
A celebration of Stan's life will be held at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, Arkansas, on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 1:00pm with Rev. Hawk Coleman officiating. Final interment will be at Mallettown Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Dickerson, Doug Dickerson, Chad Mallett, Tom Booth, Danny Mallett, and Buddy Buendtner,
In lieu of flowers, the family requests, if you so choose, to send a memorial in Stan's honor to the Mallettown United Methodist Church Building Fund, 274 Town Circle, Springfield, AR, 72157.
