Fern Loretta White Outlaw was born Sept. 20, 1922, in the Sulphur Bluff community of Hopkins County. She was one of five children of Joseph Washington White and Dessie Walker White. Fern was the last living member of this generation.

Fern's life made a difference in her family, her friends, her church and her community. She taught her children and impacted others through example. She was a gracious, compassionate woman. On the day of her death, one granddaughter, Debbie, remarked. "Mammy has been working for this day all her life." We are certain that she was received with open arms and the comforting words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
