Delsa “Duck” Polk Willcutt, 89, of Atkins went to the Lord Saturday, April 16, 2011 at St Mary’s Hospital.She was born September 28, 1921, the daughter of Sam Daniel & Diana Hartwick Polk. She was the widow of the late Edd Willcutt of Atkins and attended the Church of Christ in Bells Chapel. She loved gardening and country life. She had many stories of the good ol’ days that will be lost through time. She loved her family and friends and will be sorely missed by all. Her dad, Sam, gave her the nickname of “Duck” when she was 2 years old. When he said that she waddled like a duck when she walked, it stuck, and all her family and friends knew her by that name. Duck was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Sammy Polk, Nelse Polk and Manuel Gooden; sisters, Elsie Willcutt and Elvie McBride; son, William Earl Willcutt; grandsons, Darrell Wayne Willcutt and Richard Lee Willcutt;granddaughter, Deborah Kaye Hendrix; and daughter-in-law, Ola Willcutt.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law; Thomas Edward, and Eddie Ray and Pauletta of Witter, Johnny and Anita and Robert and Sheila of Atkins; daughters and sons-in-law, Delsa and Gerald Davis and Katheryn and Don Hendrix; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Willcutt, all of Atkins; 23 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were the grandsons. Honorary pall -bearers were Paul Pratt, Bobby Bewley, Jim Fryer, Floyd Fryer, Lawrence Hankins and Larry Bowden.
