Thelma Jewel Lawhorn, 83, of Atkins, passed away, Sunday, May 28, 2017 at her home. A daughter of David & Georgia Mae Hutson Johnson, she was born July 2, 1933 in Atkins. She attended Atkins Public Schools. She was retired from Tyson Foods. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Pottsville and a former member of South New Hope Assembly of God. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, canning and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband Grady Vernon Lawhorn; her parents; son, Kenneth Ray Lawhorn; sons in law, James Painter and David Chilldres; sisters, Georgia Mae Trumfheller, Alice Bratton, Sue Bratton and a brother, Elmer "Bud" Johnson.
Thelma is survived by daughters, Deborah Painter of Atkins and Terry Chilldres of Orlando, Florida; son Vernon Lawhorn(Jana) of Pottsville; a daughter in law, Kandice Lawhorn Walker of Russellville; grandchildren, Jeremy Lawhorn (Leslie) of Russellville, Jeffrey Lawhorn of Atkins, Kenneth Lee Lawhorn of Pottsville; Elizabeth Chilldres and Alex Chilldres, both of Orlando, Florida; sisters, Elizabeth Hamblin of Garland, Texas and Margie Pearl Norris of Atkins.
