Esther Carter, age 89, of Russellville, went home to be with the Lord earning her angel wings on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home. She was born on March 7, 1928, in Pope County to William Ellis and Gracie Montgomery Tackett. She was a member of the Dover Assembly of God for over 65 years. She volunteered faithfully at the American Red Cross and delivered food for Meals on Wheels. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Willard Hallman; her second husband, Joe Thomas Carter; son, Bill Carter; daughter, Janey Hilburn;2 brothers; and 5 sisters. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Lynn and Louise Carter of Russellville, and Dale and Judy Carter of Conway; a son-in-law, James Hilburn of Springfield, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Lydonna Carter of Russellville; brother, Arvil "Buddy" Tackett, of Russellville; sisters, Anne Chaney of Merced, California, Gracie Leininger of Rolla, Missouri, Georgia Jones of Oakhurst, California, and Vela Page of Russellville; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Jason and Joshua Carter, Aaron and Trevor Hilburn, Kevin Hogan, Steve Alvey, Todd Barnett, and Matthew Williams. Honorary Pallbearers were Josh Porter, Kenny Schwarz, Nathan Tackett, and Tyler Robertson. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home, 220 John Babish Lane, Russellville, Arkansas 72801.
