BENTONVILLE - Carl Willis Mercer, 83, of Bentonville, died May 15, 2008, in Bentonville. He was born July 10, 1924, to John Hice and Maggie Mahaley Russell Mercer. He had been a line locater for Bentonville prior to his retirement. He was a veteran of the Navy having served during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Church of Christ in Jane, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Pearl in 1989.
Survivors include two sons, Darrel Gene Mercer of Maysville, Carl Ray Mercer of Bentonville, a daughter, Lila Kay Pierce of Bentonville; a sister, Vera Clark of Linden, Texas; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Callison Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bentonville City Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville.
