July 2, 1916 - May 1, 1969
John Francis Meeks, formerly of El Dorado, has died as a result of a train collision Thursday in Odessa, Tex. He was a member of the Catholic faith and a veteran of WWII. Meeks was a Major in the Quarter Master Corps in the U.S. Army. His survivors include one brother, Arthur Meeks, Texarkana, Tex.; four sisters, Mrs. Rose Oslin, Monticello, Mrs. Helen Goad, Miss Dorothy Meeks and Miss Margaret Meeks, all of Texarkana; and one nephew, Terry Meeks, El Dorado. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Young's. (El Dorado Times - May 3, 1969)
