Obituary

Odis Aston, 73, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville.The son of Juel and Eva May Martin Aston, he was born December 27, 1940 in Pottsville. He married Paula Dolores Mason on October 12, 1963 in Oklahoma.He was a United States Navy Veteran of Vietnam, where he received the rank of AMS3 (E-4).

Odis went to Petit Jean Vo-tech where he became a certified welder. He worked with Arkla Gas for 22 years before his retirement. After his retirement Odis started raising cattle and horses. Odis lived his life as a servant and was a man of Christian values. He was a Life Member of the VFW, 32nd Degree KCCH Scottish Rite Mason, member of the Russellville Lodge # 274, York Lodge # 596, and Bright Star Lodge # 213, Royal Arch Mason, Goza # 76, Knights Templar, and Allied Masonic Degrees. He was the District Deputy Grand Lecturer for many years. He was an honorary member of the Atkins Lodge and the London Lodge. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He was involved for a number of years cooking for benefit breakfasts and fundraisers for many lodges and organizations.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph Aston; and infant sister, Lola May Aston.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Paula Aston; two sons, Jeffrey Aston of Pottsville, and Justin Aston of Russellville; one daughter, Ann Willcutt and husband Jeremy of Russellville; granddaughter, Jordane Crabtree; great-grandson, Fox Crabtree; five brothers, Thurman Aston of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Paul Aston and wife Margaret of El Paso, Texas, Don Aston of Sacramento, California, David Aston of Lytton Springs, Texas, Herb Aston and wife Carol of Iraan, Texas; one sister Modean Bowman and husband Virgil of Russellville; one aunt Ollie Mackie Brooks of Russellville and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home, 220 John Babish Lane, Russellville, Arkansas 72801.
