John Nelson Baker, 87, of Bartonville, Texas, died Saturday, September 15, 2012

Born May 10, 1925, in Charlotte, he was the son of John Nelson Baker Sr. and Pearl Cantrell Baker.

He moved to Chicago at the age of 16 to work.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an aviation machinist.

He married the love of his life, Aileen Thompson on May 5, 1946.

He was a faithful Christian and served as an elder at the Brookfield, IL Church of Christ for many years. He worked over 30 years at Marathon Concrete Pipe in Willowsprings, Illinois, retiring as the plant manager and moving back to Arkansas. He enjoyed his years there worshipping with the Charlotte Church of Christ, riding and caring for his horses, and sharing many good times with his wife and family.

He then moved back to Arkansas. He enjoyed worshipping with the Charlotte Church of Christ, riding and caring for his horses and spending time with his wife and family.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Aileen; four daughters and sons-in-law: Nancy and Terry Harris of Colorado Springs, CO; Beverly and Larry Barnes of Dallas, Texas; Colyn and Gary Bryant of Bartonville, Texas; and Sandy and Frank Sticha of Maywood, Illinois; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Joline and Bill Ozanne of Wilmington, North Carolina; and a brother-in-law, Lenoard Westbrook of Batesville, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Charlotte Church of Christ with Ralph Wallis and Chuck Crow officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Cord, Arkansas under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Pallbearers are Clint Bryant, Jeff Barnes, John Barnes, Sam Sticha, Gary Brant, and William Sticha.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
