Shelby F. Stough, 79, of 717 School St., died Thursday evening in a local hospital following a long illness. He was born Nov. 5, 1889, in Bradley County, the son of Silas J. and Mary Reeves Stough. He had been a resident of El Dorado for the past 16 years and was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a produce merchant and a retired farmer. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mezzie Erwin Stough; three sons, M. D. Stough, Port Arthur, Tex., O. C. Stough and Carroll Stough, both of Pasadena, Tex.; one foster son, D. L. Ashbrook, Norfork, Va.; four daughters Mrs. Gladys Sharp and Mrs. Ozelle Lerned, both of Port Arthur, Tex., Mrs. Polly Adams and Mrs. Elma Johnson, both of El Dorado; one sister, Mrs. T. W. Singer, Warren; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Banks Baptist Church with the Rev. Otis Reddin and the Rev. Roy Hilton officiating. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery near Banks under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - January 24, 1969)
