CHERRY, Wm. T. - Wm. T. Cherry, for 12 or more years manager of the Appleby Bros. Canning Company in Hiwasse, died Tuesday morning in the Siloam Springs hospital following an operation last Saturday. He became ill about a week ago and as his condition grew worse he was removed to the Siloam Springs hospital Friday night last week. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Hiwasse at 10 o'clock yesterday morning, the Rev. E.M. Freslag of Fayetteville officiating. The body was taken to Mt. Comfort in Washington County for burial. Mr. Cherry and his sister, Miss Ada Cherry, lived together. Neither had married. They came from Washington County to Hiwasse about 15 years ago. He was a friend of long standing of the Appleby brothers and the tragic death of Charles Appleby was a severe shock to him. He was highly thought of by all who knew him. Despite his 74 years Mr. Cherry was very active and operated the canning factory at Hiwasse in a successful manner. He will be sadly missed by his friends.
