Billy Bob Whitlow, 79, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017. Billy was born on November 18, 1937, in Lynn, Arkansas, to Robert “Bud” Bethel and Lillie Rosetta Drury Whitlow. Billy was the oldest of eight children.

Billy married the love of his life, Sherry Ranay Painter, on December 14, 1957, in Santaquin, Utah. Their marriage was later sealed, for time and eternity, in the Manti Temple, on June 30, 2001.

Billy served twenty years in the United States Navy, retiring on April 1, 1974, as an Electrician Mate Chief. After his Naval retirement, Billy and his family made their home in Youngstown, Ohio. Upon his full retirement, in 1998, Billy returned home to Arkansas, with his wife, Sherry, to live out their remaining years alongside family and friends.

Billy was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in 1977. He served as the Branch Clerk, at the Pocahontas Branch, from 2001, until his passing.

Billy was a kind and loving man. He easily made friends with everyone he came into contact with. He dearly loved his family, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sloan Whitlow, and Charles Ray Whitlow; sister, Genell Miller.

Billy is survived by his wife, Sherry Painter Whitlow, of the home; son, Billy Bob (Rosalie) Whitlow, Jr., of Girard, Ohio; daughters, Connie Jean Whitlow (Walter) Lahtuk, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Peggy Sue Whitlow (James Stagner), of Hensley; sisters, Willie Mae Jones, of Strawberry, Carolyn (Harold) Willett, of Black Rock, Lanetta (Tom) Norwood, of Booneville, and Rena (George) Jones, of Black Rock; grandchildren, Teresa, Lisa, Billy III, Aaron, Timothy, Hope, and Heidi; great grandchildren, Dillon, Hunter, Jackson, Gage, Lilyanna, Caleb, Raven, and Kaylynn; one great grandchild, Conall, on the way.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, on Friday, February 10, 2017.

A funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Pocahontas, beginning at 10:00 am, on Saturday, February 11, 2017; Brother Herbert Ginn, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hope Cemetery, in Imboden.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Billy Whitlow III, Aaron Whitlow, Timothy Whitlow, and Butch Schaechtel.

Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters, and great grandchildren.
