Loyd L. Likens, 81, of Van Buren, Arkansas, died, Monday, November 4, 2013 at his home.
He was born March 3, 1932 in Ozark, Arkansas to Elihue and Ollie Brown Likens.
He was retired from OTASCO in Fort Smith as well as from Triple L. Construction where he worked as a construction consultant. He served his country from January 1950 to 1962 in the Army and Air Force during the Korean War. Pop as his friends and family knew him was known for his kindness, generosity and always smiling and willing to help anyone.
Pop was preceded in death by his parents Elihue and Ollie Likens, his grandson, Jason Likens, his granddaughter, Terri Likens and three brothers, Ray, U.H. and Raymond Likens
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM,
Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Dyer First Assembly of God Church in Dyer with Reverend David Elam officiating with burial at Dyer Cemetery, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Ruby McAdoo Likens, two sons, Larry Likens of Roland, his two sons, Brad and wife Karen Likens of Muldrow, Jarod and wife Lori Likens of Muldrow, Danny Likens and his wife Gail of Van Buren, Arkansas there son, Justin and wife Erin Likens of Alma and the late Jason Likens of Van Buren, his daughter, Denna Likens Wackerly and husband Jim Wackerly of Fort Smith. Her three Sons, Chris Robinson of Van Buren, Nick Strickland of Van Buren and Michael Israel of Van Buren. Pop was blessed with seven grandchildren as well as ten great grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Shaffer Funeral Home 2315 W. Commercial in Ozark.
Pallbearers will be James Israel, Nick Strickland, Brad Likens, Faith Robinson, Jarod Likens, Justin Likens, Chris Robinson and Hunter Robinson.
